St Declan’s Parish invites your child to spend some time during Holy Week reflecting on one of the events in the Easter story, and to draw, paint or sketch an artwork depicting one aspect of the event.

What do I do?

 1.    Encourage your child to think about the events of Holy Week and choose one to create an artwork about:

  • Passion/Palm Sunday: Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem
  • Holy Thursday: Jesus washes the feet of the disciples OR Jesus breaks bread at the Last Supper
  • Good Friday: The Crucifixion of Jesus (or any other part of the story along the journey to the cross)
  • Easter Sunday: The Empty Tomb OR Jesus Risen from the dead.

2.    Use an A4 sheet of paper from home to create the artwork using any form of art medium of your child’s choice.

3.    Clearly label the back of your child’s artwork with his/her name, school year group (e.g. Year 4) and a parent contact phone number.

4.    Fill in the permission form (see button below) and return it with your child’s artwork, giving the parish permission to display a photo of your child’s artwork, first name and school year group on the St Declan’s Facebook page – and in Declan’s Well, the Parish quarterly e-magazine, if your child’s artwork is a winning entry.

5.    Return your child’s artwork and the permission form by Easter Sunday (or as soon as your child is ready) to one of the following places: The basket in the St Declan’s church foyer OR the Parish Office (92 Penshurst St, Penshurst)

For details on how the competition will be judged and the artworks displayed and used, please see the 'Full Details' link below.
